Robotics Programming

Arduino Lab 9 Advanced Workshop.  Rising grades 4 – 8 only. Learn to program a microcontroller with hands-on projects including a series of modules to program music, create light displays, and design and operate animatronics.  The workshop culminates with the building and programming of a robotic car with an ultrasonic sensor. Two sessions available!  Session 1: May 29 – June 1: 9 am – noon ; Session 2: June 11 – 14: 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm . Cost is $110.

American Girl Doll Camp :

July 23-27, half day or full day, rising 1-rising 5

Calling all girls who love American Girl dolls and want to learn about five BeForever time periods through interactive games, crafts, drama, dance, and other creative interpretation!  Prior to camp, the girls will vote on the five BeForever dolls they wish to investigate and learn about their historical time periods and cultures.  This camp is open to rising 1st through 5th grade campers.  I am also looking for rising 6th grade campers who would like to attend camp for free and wish to help lead as a Junior Assistant American Girl expert!  Half-day campers will enjoy learning about the five time periods from 9:00-12:00 and will need to bring a snack and drink daily.  Full-day campers will enjoy the morning session followed by free play time with their friends and dolls from 12:00-1:00 and will need to bring a snack, drink, and lunch daily.  Afternoons for full-day campers will be spent with enhancement activities.  Girls will invent the next BeForever doll, including designing her clothing, pet, and mini book according to the time period chosen by the group.  They will also create an interpretive dance/play/skit about the dolls we study each day so that the girls can showcase what they have learned for families on the final day of camp at 4:00!  Cost for half-day campers is $105, and cost for full-day campers if $215 which includes all camp supplies needed.  Refer a new camper friend for half-day and pay $95 or full-day camper friend and pay $195!  Jennifer McGann is the camp instructor and has led this camp for the last 4 years.  She is a veteran teacher of 20 years and teaches 6th grade social studies at Signal Mountain Middle High School.  She desires to present history in an engaging and exciting way which is the core philosophy of her summer camp tradition. Payment may be made by direct check to Jennifer McGann or through Venmo @Jennifer-McGann-2, or by PayPal.  Venmo is free if funds are trasferred through a major debit card or checking account; Venmo charges a 3% fee for payments by credit card.  If using PayPal, please kindly asborb the convenience fee of 2.9% of the cost of camp plus $0.30 fee.

Chess Camp:

June 11-15, 9 am - 1 pm.  $110; Rising 1 - rising 6

Join Signal Mountain Scholastic Chess Coach Bill Cheal, along with other members of the Signal Mountain and Tennessee state chess organizations, build kids into competitive chess players through fun activities and interesting strategy sessions.

S.T.E.A.M. Camps: 

9 am - 2 pm, with aftercare available until 5:30 for additional $40 per week, per family.

Rising K - rising 5 : $110 per session; Rising  6- rising 8 may attend as "Junior Counselors" -- they will act as  "mentors" for younger campers  and will assist the camp director and counselors, while participating in activities.  This is a great way to transition from camper to counselor, plus have fun for the reduced rate of $60 per session.

Camps are filled with fun and enriching activities for summer days.  The program blends science, technology, engineering, art and math activities, games and playground play.  Participants will be grouped into lower elementary and upper elementary groups with dedicated counselors.  At least one activity in each of the following categories is offered every week to compliment the theme:

  •  June 4 – 8 - As Seen On TV: Put some reality into TV favorites.  Join us as we ‘go live’ in our own version of American Ninja Warrior, Shark Tank, Myth Busters, Swamp People, Modern Marvels, Master Chef, and a slew of game shows.   
  •   June 11 – 15 - Around the World: We will pique campers’ sense of exploration as they virtually travel the earth and its modern and ancient cultures through technology, cooking, art, folk stories, cultural games and a photo passport of their journey.  Campers will learn a bit of Chinese, make and taste delicacies from around the globe, create woodblock prints, design their unique Matryoshka, and find tranquility with their own miniature zen garden.   
  •  June 25 – 29 - The Great Outdoors: This one is a summer staple at Bachman!  This year we have our very own garden plot to tend, accompanied by a host of other activities!  Build an artistic garden post, assemble a bird house, make homemade applesauce, engineer a homemade sprinkler, plant succulent seeds, and back by popular demand – construct a wormery to observe the life of earthworms!   
  •  July 9 – 12 – Take Flight: Please note this camp is Monday through Thursday only!  $90 for Campers, $50 for Junior Counselors. You’ll want to keep an eye on the sky at this camp as gliders, rockets, and mini hot air balloons fill the sky.  Campers will explore the history of flight through artistic projects of birds, learn about Chinese kite traditions, and discover famous aviators and inventors like the Wright Brothers, Bessie Coleman, and Steve Fossett through activities and experiments.   
  •  July 16 – 20 - Tilt-A-Whirl: Amusement themed activities fill the day; design a one of a kind marble run coaster, spin cotton candy, make funnel cakes, learn to draw caricatures, and assemble and play midway games like ski ball and hole ​in one!

Skwalking Heads Theater & Puppet Camps:

June 4-15, 9 am - 4 pm: Music Theater Camp for kids ages 6-14; $395 includes supplies & camp t-shirt.
Kids learn all aspects of Music Theatre, acting, singing, dancing, designing and PERFORMING!

June 18- 29, 9 am - 4 pm: Puppet Camp Extravaganza for kids ages 6-14; $395 includes supplies & camp t-shirt.
Kids spend two weeks designing and building puppet characters, writing a script, recording a soundtrack , designing puppet scenery,

and performing their original puppet production.
